As
reported previously by the New Jersey Academy of
Ophthalmology, Aetna recently identified a system
error that impacted claims payment for their product
lines. This error affected codes 92002; 92004;
92012; 92014; 95115; and 95117. We have been
advised by Aetna that the reduced payments associated
with these ophthalmology services have been
corrected. However, please be advised that we
also learned from discussions with Aetna staff that
certain other services/codes not mentioned above have
been reduced, which reductions may have an impact on
your practice if you are a participating provider in
Aetna. You may wish to educate your patients
about the recent reduction in fees since insurance
companies are often responsive to
consumers.

that the purpose of this update is informational and
the New Jersey Academy of Ophthalmology has not taken
a position regarding the above-mentioned
circumstances.
